Universal Systems Prepares To Launch Cable Surveying Expedition
Baker City, OR - Universal Systems, Inc. (UVSS.PK), announced today it has purchased a 45 ft. Sea Ray and is outfitting the vessel with updated radar and specialized surveying equipment. The Company plans to depart for Alaska and begin a surveying expedition before the end of the month.
"We are moving forward quickly on the recovery of the cable, stated Mr. Kevin Chambers, CEO of Universal Systems, Inc. This first step is to survey the ocean floor with the GPS coordinates we obtained from our last visit to Alaska. We will then map out our recovery plan and be ready for the arrival of the recovery equipment and crew to begin the salvage operation."
The surveying vessel is currently in San Francisco being outfitted with a new radar system and will continue to Seattle later this week to obtain additional equipment needed for the survey and recovery process. The Company estimates that the remaining barges, tug boats, cranes, etc., will begin arriving in early August.
The Company purchased the rights to salvage the communications cable known as the Alaska Communication Submarine Cable in early January, 2008, in exchange for a convertible debenture in the face amount of $102 Million to the holders of the submarine rights. The debenture is convertible into UVSS common shares at (1) shares for each $10.00 of debenture principal. Accordingly, the Company will be issuing a total of 10.2 Million shares upon conversion of the debenture.
Mr. Chambers added, "The cable extends approximately 4,850 miles from the Southern Coast of California, towards the Alaskan Islands along the west coast of the United States with an approximate total copper weight of 37.5/lbs. per foot. The copper value becomes staggering when you compare the per foot weight with a recent Kitco Base Metals index price for copper of approximately $3.70 per/lb."
About Universal Systems, Inc.
Universal Systems, Inc (USI) is a publicly traded holding company focused on providing economically and ecologically viable water and wastewater treatment solutions. USI offers a FULL SERVICE turn-key water treatment services, specializing in "slop oil" and CBM (Coal Bed Methane) produced water. In 2007, USI obtained an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement to provide slop oil and processed wastewater treatment services to the oil industry. The company's mission is to become the leader in the development and delivery of cost effective slop oil and processed wastewater treatment. USI joined Powell Water Systems, Inc. (PWS) and Water Solutions, LLC (WS) to bring PWS's patented electrocoagulation technology to the oil industry, making large flow waste oil, and water treatment efficient and cost effective. More recently, USI has discovered the immediate need to become involved in building, owning, and operating central produced water processing facilities. This service is widely needed wherever natural gas is produced; the diminished capacity to handle processed water from natural gas production is causing some production wells to be shut in until alternative-treating plants can be brought on line. As tougher water discharge regulations are being imposed, the need is becoming even greater.
USI's business plan for expansion includes the purchase or acquisition of other specialized trade service companies that will compliment and enhance the overall product and service offering of the company.

Universal Systems To Open A Sales Office In Alberta, Canada
Baker City, OR Universal Systems, Inc. (UVSS.PK), announced today its decision to open a new sales office in Alberta, Canada following promising sales prospects from the Global Petroleum Conference.
"The Canadian Oil and Gas market is an unbelievable opportunity for us", stated, Mr. Kevin Chambers, CEO of Universal Systems. "The discussions we've had during this conference confirmed our initial thoughts about having a Company presence in Canada. The decision to open an office here was already in the works, but due to such a positive response this week we decided to expedite the opening."
The Company plans to aggressively market its waste water treatment solution to the natural gas, coal bed methane, tar sands and heavy oil drilling sectors of northwest Canada. As such, USI will be one of only a few companies that offer waste water recycling services to such a marketplace today. Most oil and gas companies in Canada currently choose to handle their waste water concerns by ground reinjection rather than recycling. Although, this method is very common in the industry, it's not always the most practical or environmentally safe method to use to dispose of excess waste water.
To oversee USI's Canadian sales effort, USI has appointed Kraige Smerdal of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada to become the Company's Western Canadian Operations Manager.
Mr. Kraige Smerdal, commented, "I am very excited about the opportunity to work with Universal Systems. Their products and services are a perfect fit for the current waste water recycling needs here in Northwestern Canada. We launched our Canadian sales and marketing efforts this week during the Global Petroleum Conference and have already been approached several major companies and we have identified more than 20 potential customers."
Mr. Smerdal has come to us with extensive knowledge of the Canadian markets and has worked in management teams of such companies as Neufeld Petroleum, Parkland Industries, Panda Tank & Vac and Endeavor Logistics. With the knowledge of changing market trends and the ability to think outside of the box he will assist in spearheading this project and many others for USI. With a long list of clients in the oil and gas sector, Kraige will be fundamental in leading USI to new markets within Canada.
We are coming into a new age where water, which was once taken for granted, has now turned into a commodity. The future is in the recycling and reuse of this precious product, this is where USI excel's and will be an industry leader. "We are pleased to have Mr. smerdal join our team. We look forward to working with him in Canada to capture this "untapped marketplace", added Mr. Chambers.

Now in 2008, Global Petroleum Show is the largest exhibition for oil and gas anywhere, boasting over 650,000 net square feet of international oil field equipment and display. Over the decades Global Petroleum Show has become much more than a large exhibition. USI Meets With Major Oil Companies To Discuss Water Waste Treatment
Baker City, OR - Universal Systems, Inc. (UVSS.PK), announced today that for the past several months key members of the company's engineering team have met with two major oil companies to review solutions to waste water concerns associated with "oil drilling and refinery" operations.
"As the demand for oil increases, so does the problem of waste water", stated Mr. Kevin Chambers, CEO of Universal Systems, Inc. "However, this is not a new problem, but an issue that has plagued the oil and gas industry for decades, compounded by harsher EPA regulations and costs associated with its disposal."
For more than 10 years, both Powell Water Systems, Inc. (PWS) and Water Solutions, LLC (WS) have provided its customers with proven "cost-effective" waste water treatment solutions, representing a variety of manufacturing industries. Today, they have collectively manufactured and deployed over 350 units worldwide. Through the combined research and development and licensing relationship with USI, these products are now available specifically for the oil and gas industry. However, instead of focusing on manufacturing and sales, USI is distinctively poised to capitalize on the "process service" side of the business, thus increasing long-term income potential for the company.
Mr. Chambers further commented, "It's exciting to see how our R & D efforts are finally being taken seriously by the industry. As more and more oil companies begin to understand how our unique and efficient process can save them valuable time and money, our market opportunities will continue to grow exponentially."
